Dog Toy

Even dogs like Uncle Pennybags. This is a dog toy sold at Walmart for $9.97.  Dog owners are most familiar with the Scottish Terrier token which was fist introduced in 1950.  In 2005 Hasbro/Parker Brothers released a Monopoly Dog Lovers' Edition. Which featured dog related tokens and money. In 2009 A Dog Lovers' Theme pack was released, which featured 6 different dog breed tokens. In 2006 a dog in a handbag was added as a token to the Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition.  In 2019 Hasbro released the Monopoly Cats vs Dogs Edition. This game is played in teams, with the Cat owners against the Dog owners. Once all the titles have been claimed the game ends and the team with the most titles wins. In 2021 Hasbro released a Target Edition Monopoly staring Bullseye the Target mascot. I have to give the Monopoly team a lot of credit, they never miss an opportunity to make money. Who wouldn't buy a Mr. Monopoly toy for their dog? My only questions are where are the property deed p

Dollar Tree Monopoly

I stumbled upon this Monopoly set at my local Dollar Tree. Recently prices have risen slightly, this activity set was $1.25. It's small, portable and contains all the pieces needed to play a standard game of Monopoly.

Swanky Editions

I found these swanky editions of Monopoly while shopping at Home Goods. These are the traditional board game but much nicer.  The Grand Edition features a wood board and costs 69.99. The Indigo Edition is made to look like a book and comes with Scrabble. This edition costs 49.99.

Monopoly Deal Card Game

I found Monopoly Deal game at Walgreens for $6. This is a fast card game that can be easily learned and played in 15 minutes or under. It's for 2-5 players and all you need is to collect 3 properties in the same color to win. I liked that this version is portable and a fast play. Action cards are reminiscent of chance and community chest cards. For example if you draw the birthday card, other players need to give you money. You can draw the pass Go card, advance to Go and get two extra cards.

Welcome to a Monopoly Blog

Hello and Welcome to my new blog! If you have been following my writing you already know that I start a new blog every year with a new topic and full on emersion in the subject, hoping to learn the most that I can before moving on to the next one. This years topic took a lot of brainstorming and souls searching. I recently joined a weekly boardgame group. Let's say after the first night I was hooked. I was really impressed by the subject matter and complexity of the games. I had been toying with the idea of a boardgame blog since November but was having some trouble finding my niche. At first thought, I was interesting in writing about and reviewing games from $5 below and the dollars store. However, I don't have lots of friends at my disposable to play boardgames. Also unknown games can be a hard sell, when more popular games have more players interested. Next I turned to solitaire games, or games for only one player. I found much less selection to choose from, some seemed ch
